Project Description

A large kitchen with a lot of vertical space was modernized for efficiency and simplicity of design. The original cabinets along the top perimeter were not functional and could only be reached by climbing a library ladder. In the new design, tall Shaker cabinets with glass transom uppers made better sense for storage, accessibility, and beauty. The transom cabinets contain lighting, which will serve to showcase pottery and collectibles. Above the 48″ range, a striking hood makes an impressive statement. Further reinforcing this powerful focal point is the island with seating for 2 and a prep sink, now plainly visible with the peninsula gone. Gold hardware and lighting make elegant accents in the white kitchen theme. Finalizing the note of luxury are the dolomite countertops and backsplash, statements in their own right. Adjacent in the family room, a library wall of rich, walnut cabinetry conveys a passion for books and a formal warmth characteristic of the home’s interior.
