Project Description
Even some narrow kitchens can have an island, as shown by this slender kitchen footprint. The old peninsula allowed only limited access on one side, often creating a bottleneck between the counter and the pantry. Removing it provided space for a slim island, creating additional prep space and double the access. The new design still retains seating for 2. The rest of the layout did not change significantly. Bringing interest and dimension to the space is the use of 3 cabinet colors – crisp white and gray to modernize the look, and a dark wood stain on the opposite wall for depth and warmth. Brushed gold hardware punctuates the warmth, while a rich white and gray herringbone backsplash elevates the entire design.
