Project Description
This stunning kitchen is an example of how a more Traditional space can be transformed into a more modern one, without sacrificing architectural elements, such as the curved entry walls with thick, arched doorways. The wall to the sun room, formerly used for formal dining, was removed, enlarging the room and connecting the formal dining to the overall kitchen space. A large bifold door brings the outdoors in and allows for indoor-outdoor dining most of the year. Bright white cabinets with wood accents replace the darker, Craftsman-style red from the kitchen’s original design. A large island accommodates seating for 4. On the stove wall, a quartz backsplash offers a clean, continuous backdrop for the banded hood and symmetrical upper cabinets. In the informal dining area, a combination bar & buffet with beverage refrigerator displays glass upper cabinets and a single floating shelf against a quartz backsplash. White oak flooring lightens, brightens and visually enlarges the space. The flooring is carried through the house and into the nearby powder room, which is designed to coordinate.
