Project Description

Although this large kitchen space opened out into a spacious family room and a spectacular ocean view, the old arrangement did not maximize full use of the space, and made the island seem cut off from the overall area. In the new plan, the island was significantly enlarged with a table-height portion extending the length of the kitchen. The prep sink was resituated to allow more prep space for cooking at the stove. A sleek waterfall edge anchors the island with a clean, contemporary look. A Fisher & Paykel double–drawer dishwasher occupies one side of the island, with functional drawers on the opposite side. A 48″ Viking Range with double ovens sits below a rectangular banded wood hood, which makes a bold statement at the end of the room. A Sub Zero 48″ professional built-in refrigerator occupies a niche next to a walk-in pantry, and a striking buffet is built into a coordinating niche. At the end of the sink wall, an appliance garage and microwave drawer are conveniently stacked. Gold pendants and soft, gold hardware add a touch of warmth. In the adjacent family room a full wall backsplash provides a striking background for the TV and fireplace. In a nearby living room, a Traditional fireplace was transformed into a clean and modern statement.
