Project Description

This large kitchen presented a workable footprint which needed some updates and real adjustments to transform it into this beautiful, contemporary space. After raising the floor to all one level, the cooking was moved from the island to the back wall, creating a focal point and allowing new uses for the island. The wall oven and microwave were moved to the fridge wall, creating more space on either side of the new 36″ Wolf gas cooktop. With soffits removed, Omega lighted transom cabinets and a square wood paneled hood enhance the focus created by the new cooking arrangement. The herringbone backsplash offers texture and movement, while a new streamlined island with waterfall edges provides a clean surface for casual dining and food prep. Deep drawer storage furnishes room for pots and pans, dishes and small appliances while shallower drawers contain space for utensils. In place of the desk, a symmetrical beverage station offers counter space, drawer storage, glass display uppers and a 24″ beverage refrigerator. Integrated into the new design is a small dining table. In the adjacent family room, a stacked stone fireplace with simple wood mantle sits between a pair of matching consoles and mirrors. The living room fireplace was redone in simple white stone for an understated presence.
